About Me

I’m Kate.  I was raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis and still call this area home. I’m a homeowner and live with two adorable cats (Update: Rocky passed away in Oct 2016 but I haven’t been able to bring myself to update this to only one cat).  Having studied economics in college and later getting an MBA in accounting/finance, I currently work as an accountant for a large corporation.

Over the last couple years, I’ve been on a journey to achieve financial independence.  As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that money is best spent on obtaining freedom. Along with that, I’ve been exploring what it means to live a minimalist lifestyle so I can focus on the most important aspects of life.

This blog is my journey as I work towards financial independence/early retirement, as well as the obstacles around home ownership and my experience as a cat owner. I am more than my money so you’ll see that reflected in my posts.

I am in no way certified to give any kind of advice. These posts reflect my experience only and shouldn’t be taken as recommendations. I’m also not a writer, so instead of finding long, detailed posts you’ll see short posts regarding topics that I’ve thought about and maybe you have too. I consider this blog to be a forum for discussion so we can share ideas, rather than me dictating to you what I believe to be true. I’m always looking to improve myself and how I do things, so I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

I don’t receive any kind of compensation from the companies behind the products or services I write about on this site. My posts reflect my honest opinion.

I hope you find these posts both entertaining and informative. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
